QB

I think we all understand Jordan Travis is the quarterback for this 2023 team. The battle behind him is what’s most intriguing and important. It was only one scrimmage, but the fact Mike Norvell spoke highly about freshman quarterback Brock Glenn is telling.

Now, Norvell got asked specifically about Glenn, so he had to talk about how he did in the scrimmage. However, usually Norvell will find a way to incorporate ways to mention other guys at whatever position he’s discussing at the time.

That wasn’t the case Sunday night. Norvell didn’t say much, if anything, about redshirt freshman AJ Duffy and how he performed. It was only one scrimmage, but the fact that was the case likely isn’t a good sign regarding Duffy’s progression.

We’ve heard terms like Duffy matured since last year from QB coach Tony Tokarz in the past few months. However, the buzz around Brock Glenn feels different. All we hear is how he doesn’t seem to get rattled, responds to the negatives, and is much farther along in his development than they thought he would be.

There will be more practices and scrimmages, and Duffy will have some opportunities to assert himself. However, Brock Glenn looks poised to by-pass him if things don’t change.
