Quarterback Depth

The FSU quarterback position is totally different than it was at this time last year. Jordan Travis is the unquestioned starter, and the questions continue to revolve around how well his backups develop.

Tate Rodemaker goes into fall camp as the unquestioned backup, but this fall probably is make or break deal for former blue-chip AJ Duffy.

Duffy redshirted last season and got a lot of practice reps with no scholarship quarterback behind him to push him to work extra hard.

However, that hasn’t been the case since Brock Glenn arrived on campus this spring.

How these quarterbacks perform in fall camp will go a long way in determining a potential starter in 2024. Mike Norvell mentioned he’s going to put these young players in some tough spots to see how they react.

My hope is Glenn’s presence forced Duffy to focus and understand it’s a real competition. Jordan Travis mentioned Duffy’s maturity levels improving and how hard he’s been working in recent interviews. Glenn showed he isn’t here to ride the bench this spring, so this fall will be important to determine the future at QB.
