Markeston Douglas

Markeston Douglas is the epitome of coaches identifying player potential and development. An injury prevented Douglas from developing and contributing early in his career, but he finally saw his hard work come to fruition in 2022.

The tight-end position has long been one with depth and talent issues. After all, a walk-on had played major snaps for FSU in 2020 and 2021.

However, Douglas’s emergence in the second half of last year likely means an increased role in 2023, despite the addition of Jaheim Bell and Kyle Morlock from the transfer portal. Douglas’s knowledge and experience in Mike Norvell’s offense likely gives him a leg up on Morlock.

He’s also about 30 pounds heavier, which serves better in the run blocking game. Plus, nine of his 14 receptions came in the final five games last year.

While we likely won’t see a huge uptick in his receiving production, I expect Douglas to be on the field a lot in 2023.
