FSU football: 4-star DB Jalewis Solomon hints at commitment soon
FSU football defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. secured the commitment of four-star cornerback Ricky Knight III from Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday afternoon.
He isn’t even close to finishing the defensive back class as five-star Charles Lester III, five-star KJ Bolden, four-star Jamari Howard, four-star Wardell Mack, four-star Cai Bates, four-star Zaquan Patterson, four-star Zavier Mincey, four-star Jalewis Solomon, three-star Rydarrius Morgan, three-star Ashton Hampton, and three-star Kevin Levy are prospects of interest for the Seminoles.
On Saturday night, four-star cornerback Jalewis Solomon from Schley County High School in Ellaville, Georgia, posted an interesting tweet on his Twitter account.
Solomon took a variety of official visits this summer, which featured South Carolina (June 2-4), Kentucky (June 16-18), and Florida State (June 23-25).
He recently dropped his top five schools list, which included Florida State, South Carolina, Kentucky, Auburn, and Texas A&M.
The talented defensive back conducted an exit interview with various members of the FSU media at the end of his official visit with the Seminoles, and he named Florida State his number one school in his recruitment.
He was hoping that he could officially visit Auburn and Texas A&M before making his decision around August or September. However, it seems he could decide sooner rather than later with his recent tweet.
It would appear that the Seminoles are in the driver’s side to land him. For reference, FSU is not in a worst position to acquire his services with acquiring four-star Ricky Knight III.
I would envision that the Seminoles will end up landing at least two more defensive backs (potentially up to four) in their recruiting class.
It would be ideal for Florida State to have a cornerback class that features five-star Charles Lester III, four-star Ricky Knight III, four-star Jalewis Solomon, and three-star Kevin Levy. That haul would certainly move the needle for a team replacing redshirt seniors Renardo Green and Jarrian Jones after the 2023 season.
