Players Remaining

KJ BOLDEN. 5-Star. . S. Buford HS, Buford, GA

Five-star safety KJ Bolden is a player FSU continues to recruit, but it’s a long shot with Georgia likely the destination.

4-Star. . S. Chaminade Madonna HS, Hollywood, FL. ZAQUAN PATTERSON

Patterson is a player that will take his official visits during the season. He visited FSU in March and in June. He’s former high school teammates with 2023 signee Edwin Joseph. FSU will battle Miami, Auburn, Ohio State, LSU, and others.

4-Star. . CB. Miami Central HS, Miami, FL. JAMARI HOWARD

The former Michigan State commit officially visited Michigan State and Rutgers in early June. FSU has gotten Howard on campus a few times and he attended their camp in conjunction with FAU this summer. He has three official visits remaining and FSU will likely be one of them.

Edgewater HS, Orlando, FL. CAI BATES. 4-Star. . CB

Cai Bates officially visited FSU, Tennessee, and Alabama in June. FSU got him on campus twice this spring and will need to get him back on campus again to have a real shot here.

Mainland HS, Daytona Beach, FL. ZAVIER MINCEY. 4-Star. . S

Mincey officially visited FSU, Miami, and Florida in June, and looks like it could be a three-way battle. He released a top 10 list of:  FSU, Miami, Florida, Texas A&M, Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, UCF, Colorado and Penn State on May 30. Mincey doesn’t give away much and FSU will have to get him back on campus this summer or during the season. They did get him on campus twice this spring.

Parting Thoughts

If FSU gets the trio of Lester, Knight III, and Levy in July, that likely leaves 2-3 spots with three-star safety CJ Heard committed. I’m not sure who FSU covets the most of those realistic remaining targets, but they are all top players. There’s also three-star safety Ashton Hampton that has an official visit to FSU set for December, but we’ll see if that happens. It’ll be interesting to see how this board shakes out.

The good news is FSU hasn’t had these type of problems(excellent options at defensive back) in some time.
