FSU football recruiting: Will Noles have a top 10 class by end of July?
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football fans are getting antsy because the Noles have not added any 2024 commits since five-star tight-end Landen Thomas flipped from Georgia back to the Noles.
However, the wait for 2024 commits should end in the coming days, with several blue-chip targets expected to announce their decisions between July 1 and July 29. FSU has the No. 25 ranked recruiting class with only 11 commits(seven blue-chip players).
It’s the fewest amount of commits in the top 25, with Arkansas checking at No. 24 with 13 and Texas A&M checking in at No. 22 with 12. However, when it comes to the per-player average ranking, FSU checks in with the eighth-highest per-player average at 90.58.
Because FSU has a much-higher per-player average than most of the schools ranked ahead with fewer commits, FSU should shoot past many of the schools ranked ahead of them at the end of June.
How high could the Noles rank a month from now? I think it’s plausible to see them crack the top 10 if they land the majority of the targets expected to commit in July. July 1st, 4th, and 29th are days FSU targets plan to announce their decisions.
However, there are at least three more players that could make their decisions in July. It’s not improbable for the Noles to add between 6-7 commits in the next month. If they add most of who I think they’ll add and remove one of the current commits I don’t expect to stay in the class? FSU would likely still have enough points to crack the top 10.
Team rankings in July don’t mean much, but it’ll provide a clear picture of what’s left on the recruiting board. If they land most of these targets that plan to announce in July, that means the staff can go big game hunting the rest of the recruiting cycle.
That’s where you want to be as a top 10 preseason team when the season begins, and a strong start could help FSU land a couple of those elite players remaining on the recruiting board.
