FSU football coaches have done tons of work over the past few weeks, hosting tons of quality blue-chip players for official visits.

One of those was four-star athlete Ricky Knight III. FSU is recruiting Knight as a defensive back and was the first to offer the in-state product.

Knight announced Monday via his Twitter account he’ll announce his commitment on July 1st.

Chopchat conducted a quick Q&A with Knight before his official visit to FSU on June 16.

Knight had a lot of positives for his FSU football visit and received two 247 Crystal Ball predictions after the visit with a six confidence level. However, Knight did officially visit Miami this past weekend and officially visited Illinois on June 9.

Did the Miami Hurricanes do enough to take the momentum in his recruitment? Knight posted this the day after the visit concluded probably means one of two things. He went on the visit, and it didn’t compare to what he felt at FSU, or Miami moved the needle enough for him to grab momentum.

However, in the video above, Knight communicates he has the date to commit in mind. Of course, Knight resides in Miami’s backyard in West Palm Beach, and the Canes are in desperate need of some momentum, with only three blue-chip commits out of 12.

FSU football has a stacked recruiting board and will likely take 4-5 defensive backs, and I’m curious if Knight will be the first domino to fall. Knight pointed out that FSU offering him first does mean something to him, and FSU had to be confident in their evaluations to offer before anyone else.

It sounds like current FSU players gave Knight a great depiction of what it’s like at FSU and vouched for new defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain. Was it enough to gain the commitment? We’ll find out Saturday.
