FSU football had a massive recruiting weekend, with plenty of highly touted recruits flocking to Tallahassee.

One of those prospects was Class of 2024 four-star tight end Kylan Fox from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. Fox had been trending heavily for the Seminoles in recent weeks.

The talented tight end had a busy official visit schedule this summer, where he visited UCF (June 2-4), Georgia Tech (June 9-11), and Florida State (June 23-25). Most notably, Fox canceled his Miami official visit from June 9-11.

On Sunday afternoon, On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons put in an expert prediction to UCF for Fox.

This prediction caught many FSU fans by surprise, considering that Fox had a tremendous relationship with five-star tight end commit Landen Thomas. It makes individuals wonder what went wrong in this recruitment.

Even Fox’s mother (Brandi Fox) provided the following statement on her Twitter account before her son has set to officially visit the Seminoles:

I never want to speculate on this young man’s recruitment because that is his decision that will have an impact on him and his loved ones. However, this seems to be situation that is trending away from the Seminoles at the moment.

You don’t go from “saving the best for last” to getting crystal balled to UCF, who he officially visited in early June, right after concluding the FSU visit. This is not a direct shot at Fox or the UCF Knights. He is a tremendous talent, and I hope he succeeds wherever he ends up.

Tight ends coach Chris Thomsen has been recruiting at an exceptional level. The position room is in better hands than before, adding two quality transfers this offseason in Jaheim Bell (South Carolina) and Kyle Morlock (Shorter). Plus, they still have Markeston Douglas, Jackson West, Brian Courtney, Jerrale Powers, and Preston Daniel on the roster.

Personally, I believe that FSU has a chance to make the month of July memorable. I wouldn’t give up on the coaching staff in trying to assemble this recruiting class. There are a solid amount of highly-touted prospects that the Seminoles are trending for. Fox will announce his decision on July 4th.
