FSU football has been heavily linked to acquiring five-star cornerback Charles Lester III from Venice, Florida.

Lester to FSU?

Lester III has received four crystal ball predictions to the Seminoles. Every time the talented defender visits Tallahassee, it feels like home for him.

His recruitment has centered around the Seminoles, given that he has visited campus eight times since being offered on January 3, 2022.

Announcement coming soon

On Tuesday morning, the talented defensive back announced that he will announce his commitment on July 29th.

This decision bodes well for FSU football, considering that he announced his commitment date right after his official visit with FSU. Lester III stated in a previous interview that the four teams involved in his recruitment were Florida State, Alabama, Georgia, and Colorado.

Worried about Colorado?

He officially visited all of the schools that were listed above. Unfortunately, FSU fans are skeptical when the Colorado Buffaloes are involved with any recruitment, given that head football coach Deion Sanders was able to lure 2022 five-star cornerback Travis Hunter to flip his commitment from Florida State to Jackson State on National Signing Day.

Is Georgia a concern?

With that said, the Seminoles seem to be in a good position to land him. But it is worth noting that the later announcement date could open the door for schools such as Alabama and Georgia to get involved.

Lester III has an official visit scheduled with the Bulldogs this upcoming weekend, and it would be wise to not count out the defending national champions.

Analysis

If Lester III were to commit to Florida State, it would generate much-needed momentum for a recruiting class that has not seen a commitment since April 17, 2023. Plus, it would give defensive back coach Patrick Surtain Sr. his first commitment since being hired by the program earlier this spring.

He is arguably the most important uncommitted prospect on the Seminoles’ target board. This situation has been a recruitment that head football coach Mike Norvell, and company have put so much time and effort into. It is imperative that FSU finds a way to land his services.
