FSU football doesn’t have any offensive linemen committed to their 2024 recruiting class.

Atkins’ recruiting success

Florida State offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins acquired a high-amount of talent during the offseason to solidify the rotation.

He was able to secure the signings of three transfer prospects, offensive tackle Jeremiah Byers (UTEP), interior offensive lineman Casey Roddick (Colorado), and interior offensive lineman Keiondre Jones (Auburn).

Coach Atkins also brought in two talented true freshmen in offensive tackles, Lucas Simmons and Christopher Otto. However, fans understand that the Seminoles need to continue acquiring talent at the position even with the above-average room that they possess now.

Attrition in the offensive line position room

It is also fair to mention that offensive tackle Bless Harris, interior offensive lineman Casey Roddick, and interior offensive lineman D’Mitri Emmanuel are all redshirt seniors. They are all candidates to become starting offensive linemen for the Seminoles during the 2023 season.

Itete to USC

Unfortunately, Coach Atkins suffered his first loss this recruiting cycle as four-star offensive tackle Manasse Itete chose to commit to the USC Trojans (previously received a crystal ball prediction to FSU; scheduled to officially visit on June 23).

Targets to monitor

While the Seminoles have five-star offensive tackle Jonathan Daniels and four-star interior offensive lineman Jason Zandamela trending in their favor, it might be wise to expand the recruiting target board to ensure another option.

Plazz de-commits from Penn State

On Thursday afternoon, Class of 2024 three-star offensive lineman Deryc Plazz de-committed from Penn State. He previously committed to the Nittany Lions on June 4, 2023 (yes, recruiting is a wild ride).

Plazz included FSU in his top five schools list, along with Penn State, Miami, Duke, and North Carolina State on May 20, 2023.

The Seminoles offered the talented offensive lineman later in the recruitment process on April 1, 2023. He just recently scheduled an official visit to the North Carolina State Wolfpack for the weekend of June 23rd.

Analysis

I believe that this is a recruitment that FSU could get into if they wanted to pursue it. But with Daniels and Zandamela set to decide in July, they are likely holding off to see what happens with those decisions.
