FSU football: Ranking the top ACC teams for the 2023 season
By Kelvin Hunt
Syracuse
Record (7-6)
FEI offense ranking- No. 48
FEI defense ranking- No. 49
FEI overall ranking- No. 49
Dino Babers had Syracuse out of the gates quickly in 2022, but I knew they were frauds by week three when they barely beat Purdue and a bad Virginia team in back-to-back weeks.
FSU fans were worried after their 6-0 start, but I kept saying on social media they had a tough schedule and didn’t have the depth to finish the season strong. What do you know?
They lost six of their last seven games. They lost their best running back, Sean Tucker, who went undrafted, and they’ll have a new offensive and defensive coordinator. They’ll also have a new OL, DB, and TE coach.
They start out with some cupcakes early again, but the stretch of games between Clemson, North Carolina, and FSU will be brutal. They will return their starting QB and its best receiver and were solid on defense before injuries decimated it.
We’ll see if Babers staff shake up is enough to keep them competitive.
