FSU football: Two big defensive blue-chip targets officially visiting June 23
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football already had a stacked list of blue-chip recruits and commitments officially visiting on June 23. However, that l list grew recently with the addition of two more blue-chip recruits.
Four-star athlete Jalewis Solomon and four-star defensive tackle Nasir Johnson announced their plans to join the stacked group. Solomon lists as an athlete, but FSU recruits him as a defensive back.
He ranks as the No. 184 player nationally and the No. 14 athlete. He lists at 6’1″ and 185 pounds, a two-way player who also plays wide receiver for his high school. Solomon hails from Georgia, which is a state the FSU staff have concentrated on a ton this recruiting cycle.
Solomon also has a younger brother that plays linebacker and will be a top-50 blue-chip recruit (Zaydon Walker). Solomon will visit South Carolina on June 2 and holds offers from almost every major Power 5 program.
Johnson ranks as the No. 277 player nationally and the No. 28 defensive lineman. Johnson also hails from the Peach State and lists 6’5″ and 300 pounds.
Johnson throws the discus and plays on the offensive line for his high school while holding offers from Georgia, Florida, Miami, Auburn, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and others. He plans to officially visit Florida the week before visiting FSU.
FSU coaches have players officially visiting every weekend in June, but that June 23 weekend seems to be the big one where they get their top targets on campus if possible. Here’s a running list of players that will officially visit that weekend:
- Five-star TE Landen Thomas (FSU commit)
- Four-star QB Luke Kromenhoek (FSU commit)
- Four-star WR Camdon Frier (FSU commit)
- Three-star S CJ Heard (FSU commit)
- Four-star ATH Micahi Danzy
- Four-star WR James Madison II
- Four-star S Kensley Faustin
- Four-star IOL Jonathan Daniels
- Four-star IOL Jason Zandamela
- Four-star OT Manasse Itete
- Four-star TE Kylan Fox
- Four-star DE Dylan Stephenson
- Four-star ATH Jalewis Solomon
- Four-star DL Nasir Johnson
- Four-star S Ricardo Jones
That list is an incredible amount of star power. The Noles have seven blue-chip commits with a 64 percent blue-chip ratio, and have a great shot to sign many of the players on this list.
