Will The Noles Have Enough Depth Overall?

The biggest difference between 2023 FSU and FSU over the first three seasons of the Mike Norvell era are simple. There’s much more talent, and depth across the roster has improved significantly.

The question going into the 2023 season? Do they have enough depth to compete for championships? When we look back at last season, we saw what missing one starter at defensive tackle did to the defense.

We saw what it looked like when Jared Verse wasn’t 100 percent, and Fabien Lovett was out at the same time. We saw how the offensive line and to mix and match once injuries accumulated. We know how the offense changes if Jordan Travis isn’t under center.

The coaching staff addressed the depth at defensive tackle. They brought in a solid defensive end from the transfer portal. The coaching staff brought in three solid offensive linemen.

I feel good about the trenches in general. However, what happens if Johnny Wilson goes down? What happens if Shyheim Brown or Akeem Dent goes down?

Same for the linebacker position. Now, there is time for the coaching staff to develop some players in those positions to address those concerns. Some guys have injuries and might be back to help before the season starts.

The coaches may even go to the portal in the next couple of weeks. It’ll be interesting to see if they take that route, which brings me to the next question.
