FSU football lost a commitment from its 2024 recruiting class last week but added a new one late Monday night with the addition of linebacker Jayden Parrish. Parrish received his FSU offer while visiting campus last week and decided to announce his commitment, and the coaches accepted it.

The latter is important, considering Parrish doesn’t have a composite ranking and only has 11 offers. It’s another instance of the FSU football coaching staff trusting their evaluations, as we’ve seen in the past.

However, he’s a player the staff has had a relationship with for some time. He visited for the Wake Forest game last year.

Parrish checks in at 6’1″ and 210 pounds, which is nearly identical to the same size as Kalen DeLoach and 2023 signees Blake Nichelson and DeMarco Ward when they were in high school.

Parrish had insane production as a junior, with 153 tackles(72 solos) and four sacks. That type of production tells me he has great instincts, and his highlight tape supports that sentiment.

He does a good job finding the ball and sifting through traffic to make plays. It’ll be interesting to see if more schools will take a look at him now since FSU is Free Scouting University.

He’ll likely be a three-star when recruiting sites to update their rankings. Parrish is the ninth commitment in the 2024 recruiting class and the first linebacker.

I know some FSU football fans only look at how many stars a recruit has when they check out recruiting news.

There are only four linebackers(only two blue-chip) ranked in the top 100 players in Florida. It’s either there isn’t a great crop of linebackers, or the rankings haven’t caught up yet.

Either way, I think the coaching staff has proven they know how to evaluate talent and coach players up. Welcome to Nolenation, Jayden.
