Rival fans couldnโ€™t keep FSU football recruiting out of their mouth in the last recruiting cycle, but itโ€™s the Noles having the last laugh. FSU football coaches brought in a solid prep class and the best transfer portal class nationally, with 18 players already going through spring camp.

I wrote about the importance of getting those players enrolled early, so they can make an impact during the season.

Weโ€™ve seen it time and time again, players like Jermaine Johnson, Keir Thomas, Jammie Robinson, and Jared Verse came to FSU and made All-ACC. Unfortunately, other teams in Florida are not enjoying that same success, particularly the Florida Gators.

Billy Napier had several players to enter the transfer portal after the 2022 season concluded and tried to plug those holes with other transfer players.

One of those players was four-star Baylor offensive lineman Micah Mazzccua. Mazzccua committed to Florida on January 10th and signed on January 11th.

He signed with the Gator Collective on January 25th, and less than two months later already wants out of Gainesville.

Fan Reaction

Itโ€™s not a good look for the Gator Collective, who received all types of backlash with how the situation with former quarterback signee Jayden Rashada went down.

Those guys are down badly, and it will only be more fuel for teams to use against the Gators in recruiting battles.

I included some Florida tweets to show how much of a loss this is for the Gators. They didnโ€™t deny itโ€™s a huge blow to lose a guy projected to start. My guy didnโ€™t even make it halfway through spring camp before he had seen enough!

Itโ€™s crazy how fast things can shift. Who would have thought FSU football would be the most stable program in Florida a year ago?

Mike Norvell has beaten Miami two years in a row and welcomed Billy Napier to the rivalry with an L last year.

It looks like FSU football is about to go on another run where they own the state as they did from 2010-2016.
