FSU football: Why Noles are set up for long term success
By Kelvin Hunt
Offensive Line
A position group among the worst in college football is now a strength under FSU offensive line coach and coordinator Alex Atkins.
A mixture of inherited guys that got developed and the transfer portal has worked wonders for the Noles.
They’ve had one of the best rushing attacks in the nation over the past couple of years, but it was the explosive passing game that changed how the offense looked in 2023.
The good news? FSU could return nearly their entire offensive line in 2024 because most of the transfer portal guys had multiple years of eligibility.
Not to mention, the massive offensive line class from the 2022 recruiting cycle will have two years of development under their belt and should be ready to contribute by then.
Alex Atkins has done a great job of improving the unit and building depth concurrently.
While it’s possible he could leave for a head coaching job after the 2023 season, the offensive line should be in great shape to keep things rolling.
Plus, the transfer portal is always available, and offensive linemen will likely flock to want to be part of the dynamic offense they’ll see in 2023.
