FSU football quarterback Jordan Travis has arguably been the most important player for Mike Norvell became head coach in December 2019.

Travis, a player the former staff cast way until Willie Taggart got fired, has developed into a player that no one would have thought possible back then.

Heck, it wasn’t until the final three games of the 2021 season that I started to notice a different type of guy at QB. Sure, Travis was one of the only reasons FSU won a few games in 2020. However, we started to see development in his passing game over the 2021 season that wasn’t there in the season opener.

I remember he completely missed a throw to the running back in the flats by a country mile, just lobbing the ball way into the players on the sidelines. However, we saw him throw a dime to Ja’Khi Douglas down the sidelines for a touchdown later in the game.

That’s a throw he’s always been able to make, but the level we saw Jordan Travis achieve in the 2022 season? He was elite in an offense that only threw the ball 43 percent of the time in the regular season.

Fan Reaction

Yet, Travis wasn’t heavily dependent on his legs to make things happen anymore. He scrambled when needed, but it was no longer the first instinct. His evolution in Mike Norvell’s offense is a credit to Travis, Kenny Dillingham, Tony Tokarz, and Mike Norvell. He usually gets FSU into the right play and has shown progress with a few anticipatory throws.

It helps to improve the offensive line and get some legitimate receivers as well. However, Jordan Travis will be in the Heisman conversation next year, and FSU has put some muscle behind that with a brand new website promoting his accomplishments.

It’s a good look for Travis and good publicity for recruits to see that FSU will go all out to promote when a player deserves it. It’s also another avenue he can develop into income via NIL. Well done!
