Does Transfer Portal Make Sense Now?

A lot of fans question high school recruiting and put down transfer portal recruiting. However, FSU doesn’t win this game if not for players from the transfer portal.

Jammie Robinson and Johnny Wilson played out of their minds Thursday night. I don’t care how many stars they have, 99 percent of high schoolers will not play at that level as freshmen.

FSU has added two defensive tackles and looks to add some defensive backs and a linebacker from the transfer portal.

The Cheez-It Bowl is a prime example of why they’re going so hard in the transfer portal. Fabien Lovett decided not to play in the game, and it showed in the run defense. That game would be a snap shot of what the run defense would look like without him.

We saw how things looks at linebacker with Tatum Bethune came out of the game. Linebacker depth is so bad backup Brendan Gant was in the game and got banged up.

Omarion Cooper is nowhere near the player he was last year, and FSU has to find a starting cornerback and safety with Jammie Robinson moving on to the NFL.

The offense will be fine next year, but the defense will need all the help it can get if they want to compete for a College Football Playoff spot. They’re off to a promising start, and all they need to do is turn on the field for top transfer cornerback Fentrell Cypress as to why he needs to come to FSU.
