FSU football had a successful 2023 Early Signing Day Wednesday with 16 signees. I know some fans will choose to concentrate on FSU losing the second-highest-ranked commit, Keldric Faulk to Auburn.

It wasn’t a total surprise like last year since there was smoke Auburn was in hot pursuit over the past month.

However, FSU did everything right in that recruitment, and I don’t place blame on some of the things Faulk said in interviews after flipping.

Faulk didn’t announce his decision until shortly after 12, and FSU had already received all of the NLI from each commit, plus the additions of Edwin Joseph and Christopher Otto.

That’s the type of signing day you want, not to mention they could add one more addition if four-star Penn State safety commit Conrad Hussey flips to the Noles.

The coaching staff getting all of their commits to sign early means they put all of their resources toward adding players from the transfer portal and moving on to the 2024 recruiting class.

The Noles hit on a ton of key positions like quarterback, wide receiver, linebacker, defensive backs, and some impact players from the transfer portal. I know folks want to focus on Faulk, but FSU signing their first five-star player since the 2017 recruiting class is a big deal.

A lot of folks didn’t believe FSU could hold on to Hykeem Williams when he committed in September. However, they got that done.

The staff signed one of the top offensive linemen in Lucas Simmons and stayed in the fight to eventually take quarterback Brock Glenn from Ohio State. Defensive tackle Keith Sampson is one of the top players in North Carolina.

Although FSU lost Faulk, they already signed two quality defensive ends in Lamont Green Jr. and JUCO player Jaden Jones. There’s a lot to like about this recruiting class, not to mention all of the impact transfer portal players.

The coaching staff didn’t settle for just anyone and hit on a lot of their top targets, according to Mike Norvell. The 2024 recruiting class is already off to a great start and the future is bright in Tallahassee!
