FSU football coaches continue to get their top targets from the transfer portal. The Noles got more great news late Thursday afternoon when Shorter University tight end Kyle Morlock announced his commitment to FSU football.

Morlock emerged on the scene late in the regular season after entering the transfer portal on November 22nd.

The offers poured in from the likes of Tennessee, NC State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Oklahoma, LSU, Auburn, and others.

He visited Tallahassee for FSU’s big-time win over rival Florida, and the coaches got him back on campus last weekend for an official visit.

Tennessee and others tried their hand at getting Morlock to visit their campus, but not even a week after the official visit, Morlock had seen and heard enough.

Some folks thought the addition of South Carolina transfer Jaheim Bell might scare off Morlock from committing to the Noles.

However, they are two different players that can co-exist to help make FSU an even more explosive offense in 2023. Morlock checks in at 6’7″ and 250 pounds, big and strong enough for in-line blocking, but fast enough to be productive in the passing game.

Mike Norvell terrorized defenses out of two tight-end sets in his days at Memphis.

The addition of Bell and Morlock will be the first time he’s had this caliber of players at tight end. Morlock had 30 receptions for 446 yards and six touchdowns in 11 games this fall at DII Shorter University.

I wouldn’t have concerns over Morlock playing at a lower-level school and the production not transferring to Power 5 competition. Jared Verse made the transition just fine and became All-ACC First Team.

The FSU coaching staff has an excellent eye for talent, and there’s a reason so many schools had pursuit of Morlock over the past three weeks. It’s about to get spooky in Tallahassee in 2023!
