FSU Mental Maturity

The mental maturity FSU showed Friday night is light years better than where it was 2-3 years ago.

The team got affected by emotions before the Florida game last year. I saw how hyped the team was in the pre-game and had some concerns about where they were too hyped. Florida tried to get into their heads like last year, but the Noles didn’t allow it to affect them too much.

Not to mention FSU didn’t flinch when Florida took the lead on three separate occasions. They played complementary football when it mattered.

The FSU defense knew they had to get stops early in the third quarter, and the FSU offense knew they had to capitalize when they got those opportunities. It’s something they had been doing well leading into the Florida game.

However, as mentioned, FSU’s offense is one of the better offenses nationally, according to FEI advanced metrics, and their defense was missing a starter for the first half due to a targeting penalty in the Vanderbilt game.

The guys were physical on both sides of the ball and played with a contagious mentality in the third quarter. Their ability to overcome adversity is something to behold considering where they were two years ago.
