They say good teams win, and great ones cover betting spreads. Well, FSU football has done a lot of the latter in 2022. The Noles have covered in eight of their ten games and likely would have covered in all if they didn’t have injuries to key players.

Nevertheless, they have covered in their last five games, including three blowout wins since their bye week. The Noles were massive double-digit betting favorites against Georgia Tech (-23.5) and won by 25.

The game wasn’t that close as Georgia Tech scored a touchdown as the clock struck zero with their defensive backups in the game. They were -7.5 favorites against Miami and won by 42, and -7.5 against Syracuse, winning by 35. They will enter the game as massive betting favorites against Louisiana Saturday afternoon.

The Noles are -23.5 betting favorites, but this game does fit the parameters of a trap game. It’s only their second-noon kick-off of the year, and they will face the rival Florida Gators the following week. It’s the exact same scenario FSU faced before facing Miami the week before last.

The Noles came off their bye week to face Georgia Tech in the first-noon kick-off of the year and started the game sloppy before taking care of the Yellow Jackets like spraying a can of WD-40 and striking a match.

However, Louisiana does rank better than a few of FSU’s past opponents when using advanced metrics. Louisiana ranks No. 78 overall, No. 99 offensive, and No. 62 defensive. Miami (No. 87), Boston College (No. 95), and Georgia Tech (No. 98) rank worse according to FEI. FSU ranks No. 12 overall.

Louisiana’s offense isn’t their strength, but their defense ranks one spot in front of Boston College and three spots worse than Miami.

FSU’s offense obliterated both those defenses for 40+ points. Like the rest of the games, this game is about FSU and its focus. If they maintain the same mindset of the last three weeks, there’s no reason for them not to cover the spread.
