FSU football has played six-night games this year, one at noon, and two at 3:30 p.m. The box office boys will return to a noon kickoff against Louisiana-Lafayette after back-to-back prime-time games against Miami and Syracuse.

The game time announcement took place Monday afternoon. The only other noon kickoff was against Georgia Tech after the second bye-week.

That game looked like they had not played at noon all season, with one of the sloppiest first quarters in recent memory.

However, the Noles pulled it together, and put the Yellow Jackets away by halftime.

Thoughts

Though I love the big-time atmosphere aspect of prime-time games, I can’t lie that I’m happy this game will take place at noon. It’s a game the Noles should win comfortably and will be double-digit betting favorites.

Louisiana (4-5, 2-4 Sun Belt Conference) isn’t a good team, and I’d rather get all of the writing duties out of the way early once this game is over.

Writing recaps during games and afterward, as the clock strikes well past midnight ain’t fun, especially for games we likely already know the outcome with little to nothing riding on them.

It feels good to speak in that vain about FSU football again and to know there’s little to no chance of anything crazy happening like in the past few years.

I do share sympathy with the comment about local businesses and noon games. However, FSU will have had four-night games and a mid-afternoon home game stretch this season, so hopefully, those businesses made bank.

Not to mention, I think fans would attend a more competitive game at night, which means higher attendance, than a game like Louisiana.

After all, only 51,000 attended the Duquense game with a 5 p.m. start time(it was raining too), but 61,000 attended the noon game against Georgia Tech.

Either way, it should be a win for the Noles and a good tune-up before the Florida game to end the regular season.
