I wrote all week about how FSU football was the superior team to the Miami Hurricanes. Miami has played a weak schedule and padded their stats against inferior competition, and it showed Saturday night in a 45-3 blowout win for the Noles.

FSU dominated Miami from start to finish. The Noles scored a touchdown on their first offensive possession when Ontaria Wilson caught a 56-yard bomb over the middle of the field and took it to the house.

It was a dime by Jordan Travis that hit Wilson in stride. Miami answered with a field goal to make it 7-3. However, Miami never got closer than that, as the Noles opened up a 31-3 lead at halftime. FSU had 304 total yards at halftime, averaging 8.4 yards per play.

Trey Benson was a man against boys, running for 94 yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns. Jordan Travis was 8 of 10 for 169 yards and two touchdowns against one interception. FSU gashed the “vaunted” Miami defense at will.

FSU’s defense dominated Miami’s offense, which started an injured Tyler Van Dyke at quarterback.

Miami only had 76 total yards on offense at halftime and averaged 2.9 yards per play. Miami also played freshman Jacurri Brown and Jake Garcia before Van Dyke left the game for good, with the latter throwing an interception that resulted in a short field and touchdown for the FSU offense.

Miami got the ball to start the second half, and the FSU defense forced a three-and-out, and it seemed like FSU was content to try and run some clock on offense.

FSU put the defensive reserves in, and Miami mounted a drive behind two big runs by former FSU commit Jaylen Knighton, but FSU put the starters back in, and Miami fumbled a snap on third and goal, and FSU recovered it.

The Noles took that possession in for a touchdown to Camren McDonald on Jordan Travis’s third touchdown throw of the night to make it 38-3 with 14:55 remaining in the game. CJ Campbell scored on a three-yard run to make it 45-3.

Trey Benson finished with 15 carries for 128 yards and two touchdowns. FSU football is bowl eligible for the first time since 2019 and has won two straight over the Miami Hurricanes!
