FSU football needs one more win to become bowl eligible for the first time since the 2019 season. The next win couldn’t come against a better opponent than the Miami Hurricanes.

FSU upset Miami last year 31-28, prompting the Canes to fire their head coach Manny Diaz. Miami hired former player Mario Cristobal, a .500 coach everyone hyped so much it got Miami into the top 20 in preseason rankings.

I said it was a joke they were there, and this season has proven I was 100 percent right about that program. Miami went into quadruple overtime to beat a Virginia team last week, with one Power 5 win this season.

The team they beat to get that honor, Georgia Tech, FSU destroyed 41-16 last week. FSU enters week 10 as -9.5 betting favorites against the Canes, and that’s with the game at the Hard Rock Stadium, a.k.a. Doak South.

Miami fans are not talking any of the trash talk they were in the preseason, instead calling it a rebuild after what they’ve experienced this season. It’s comical because many Miami fans said they would go 11-1 and win the ACC.

FSU would probably be undefeated with Miami’s cupcake schedule, and many of their stats have been inflated against inferior competition. FSU ranked No. 28 in FEI overall advanced metrics, and Miami ranked No. 79.

I understand it’s a rivalry game, but there’s a clear gap between the two teams. It’s why FSU is near a double-digit favorite away from home. Miami also may have to play without starting QB Tyler Van Dyke, who missed last week’s game against Virginia. My biggest concern in the game, as it has been all season is the FSU offense.

Miami ranks in the 60s in FEI advanced metrics, and FSU just torched a Georgia Tech defense ranked No. 46 for 41 points and should have scored 60.

It’ll be interesting to see where this betting line finishes, but oddsmakers clearly favor the Noles in this one.
