FSU football: 5 takeaways from ‘Noles blowout win over GT
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU Defense Was Dominant
The narratives some people try to push about the FSU defense and lack of turnovers are laughable. Renardo Green had a pass hit him in the hands and he dropped it, but I guess it’s still blame Adam Fuller?
FSU’s defense forced a punt (five three-and-outs) on every Georgia Tech offensive possession in the first half except the possession gained when FSU fumbled the ball, and Georgia Tech ran it back into field goal range.
The score should have been something like 38-0 at halftime, but instead, the FSU offense continues to waste opportunities when the FSU defense forces punts. I mean, Georgia Tech had 24 total yards at halftime and was 1 of 8 on third downs.
What more do you want from a defense? The only score they got was because the FSU offense turned it over, and they started the possession IN field goal range.
The other GT score before the game was truly in garbage time was when they got the ball at midfield from the onsides kick to start the third quarter and used a play the ACC referees called OPI against FSU in the first half, and of course, the ACC refs didn’t call it on GT.
FSU dominated GT with four sacks and 10 tackles for a loss. They had a goal line stand mid-way through the fourth quarter and showed they can dominant a bad offensive team.
