FSU football: 5 takeaways from ‘Noles blowout win over GT
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football made its 41-16 blowout win over Georgia Tech much harder than needed Saturday afternoon.
I feared the first-noon kickoff of the season and the team not playing for two weeks would affect the gameplay, and it did as FSU dropped some critical passes on its first offensive possession and fumbled inside the Georgia Tech 10-yard line on their second possession.
The score should have been around 38-0 at halftime, but the FSU offense wasted some prime opportunities to put the game away early behind a dominant defensive effort in the first half.
However, they found enough success to forge a 24-3 halftime lead against an impotent Georgia Tech offense.
Fabien Lovett returned to action for the first time since the LSU game and knocked some rust off. Ja’Khi Douglas continues to make an impact after missing most of the season before returning for the Clemson game.
It’s crazy, but FSU played nowhere near their offensive potential and still scored over 40 points against a decent Georgia Tech defense.
However, FSU could have easily scored 50+ points in this game, and that’s with a gazillion penalties and two turnovers. Let’s take a look at my five takeaways from the game.
