It was a bye-week for FSU football, but it felt like a win with Miami getting blown out at home against the Duke Blue Devils. Miami losing to Duke seems to be a common occurrence these days, and I should remind you that FSU has never lost to Duke in football.

The Noles have an important five-game stretch coming off their second bye-week and could make a statement with a strong finish.

They are right where I thought they’d be after the first seven games, and the most difficult part of their schedule has passed. The Noles played the majority of that schedule without three defensive starters at 100 percent or missing time entirely.

However, the bye week should allow those guys to improve their health, and we’ll likely see defensive tackle Fabien Lovett returning to action against Georgia Tech.

His return couldn’t have come at a better time to help sure up the defense against teams that will try to run the ball quite a bit.

I gave my predictions and win shares before the season, and I want to update those since we have several weeks of data and performances available.
