Blaming Strength and Conditioning Coaches for Injuries

This narrative seemed to gain more traction after the NC State game. FSU has lost a few guys for the season due to injuries and has suffered a ton of injuries through the first six games.

Some fans have questioned the FSU strength and conditioning staff, wondering if it’s something they are doing or not doing that’s contributing to the number of injuries FSU has accumulated.

Winston Wright was in a car wreck, Kayden Lyles and Bless Harris just got to FSU a few months ago, with Lyles having a history of injuries beforehand. Jared Verse, Fabien Lovett, and Robert Cooper all got rolled up on or hit in the knee/ankle areas during actual gameplay.

Treshuan Ward has been a workhorse for the Noles out of the backfield, and strength and conditioning aren’t going to prevent getting tackled with two or three games landing on top of you while you’re running wide open. Amari Gainer’s injury was a contact injury during the game.

Ja’Khi Douglas got injured in a scrimmage before the season. None of these injuries scream a pattern of any sort, regarding errors in strength and conditioning.

I know it seems a lot of guys went down with injuries against NC State, but many guys have gone down with injuries and returned to the game throughout this year.

The fact guys are able to return from injuries quickly speaks to their conditioning. Also, you don’t see FSU getting rag-dolled as we used to under the old regimes. If anything, it’s bad luck and the lack of depth with players playing while exhausted that may put them in a position to get rolled up on more than anything else.
