FSU football had one question to answer heading into the game against Boston College Saturday night. Could they keep their focus and dominate and team that oddsmakers had as 18.5 betting favorites?

They passed the test with flying colors in all three phases, as Trey Benson took the opening kickoff back for a 93-yard touchdown.

That play set the tone for the rest of the night. The defense swarmed against a limited Boston College offense but dominated the way they should have, and the only thing that stopped the FSU offense was themselves. It’s the fourth consecutive game where FSU covered the betting spread.

The impressive thing is that FSU is doing this amid some major injuries. Fabien Lovett and Jared Verse didn’t play in the game, and of course, FSU is missing a few offensive linemen.

Nevertheless, it was an opportunity for other players to step up, and we saw some flashes from guys we needed to see it from.

The game was their most complete game yet, but there are still a lot of errors to clean up. I would have liked to see FSU avoid the offensive lull in the second quarter.

However, they ended the second quarter with an emphatic touchdown which was good to see. Let’s get into my five takeaways from the blowout win.
