Tate Rodemaker Might Be Serviceable

Tate Rodemaker shut up a lot of folks Friday night, including me. I sat there and watched Tate Rodemaker look about as inept as one could look as a major Power 5 QB.

However, as I’ve said with Jordan Travis, confidence is a scary thing in sports. Once Tate Rodemaker made a few throws, you could see the belief himself begin to grow, and the production in the field took off.

There will be a dropoff, but Tate Rodermaker showed some signs that he might be a serviceable backup in the event Jordan Travis is out for an extended period. If he plays as he did in the fourth quarter? Rodemaker should be good enough to beat teams like Boston College, Georgia Tech, and Louisiana.

That would be enough wins to get the Noles to bowl elibility for the first time since 2017. There’s no timetable for Jordan Travis’ return, but having Boston College as the next game gives the Noles some flexibility because they are not a good team.

It means the Noles could have a shot at reaching 4-0 while giving Jordan Travis and others more time to heal from the injuries. Tate Rodemaker as a serviceable backup wasn’t something we thought we’d say in 2022.
