FSU football continues to get primetime action with Boston College game
By Kelvin Hunt
All feels right in the world when FSU football is playing winning football. The Noles upset LSU in primetime last week and drew nearly eight million viewers.
They peaked at well over eight million viewers in their season opener against Notre Dame last year, so it’s no surprise the Noles received a primetime slot Friday night against the Louisville Cardinals.
Wait, it gets even better because the ACC announced the Noles would also get a primetime slot next week (September 24th) when they host Boston College.
The Noles are slight betting favorites on the road against Louisville and will be betting favorites at home against Boston College.
If the Noles take care of business and Wake Forest, that likely means they’ll get at least one more primetime game against either NC State or Clemson depending on how the games go.
Wake Forest and NC State play Clemson the week before taking on FSU. Wake Forest ranks No. 19, NC State ranks No. 16, and Clemson ranks No. 5 at the moment.
I know conference realignment talk has died down since the season started, but folks are taking notice of the Noles. It’s no coincidence the ACC puts the Noles in primetime slots. However, they could be doing the Noles a favor as other conferences look at the data, not to mention how well FSU traveled to LSU.
If FSU defeats Louisville, I’d expect the Boston College game to be sold out, as that’s also Parent’s Weekend. A packed Doak Campbell Stadium in primetime? A national audience got to experience that during the Notre Dame game last year, and it didn’t disappoint.
I don’t want to put the cart before the horse because FSU football must take care of business for the next two weeks.
However, they are in a prime position to remind everyone how powerful the FSU brand is in college football.
