The FSU football offensive line has been cursed by the injury God’s once again. FSU coaches knew they needed more talent and better depth within that unit and went to the transfer portal to add four new players.

They’ve already lost two of them for the season. Center Kayden Lyles announced he would miss the season before it got started, and FSU head coach Mike Norvell announced tackle Bless Harris would miss the remainder of 2022 due to injury.

Bless Harris played in the season opener against Duquesne and was seen with his arm in a sling before the LSU game.

He obviously didn’t play in the game before Norvell announced after Wednesday’s practice. Harris was the listed starter at right tackle, who didn’t have a great game against Duquesne, but does bring experience and depth to the unit.

FSU coaches adding South Carolina Jazston Turnetine near the transfer cutoff point has proved to be a major move in hindsight. There was some uncertainty about if the coaches would take Turnetine, but he joined the program this summer before fall camp.

Turnetine got the start against LSU Sunday night and was serviceable, with all things considered. Turnetine had an up-and-down career at South Carolina, but the experience against some of the better defensive fronts in college football could pay dividends for the Noles.

FSU entered the season with 10+ capable bodies along the offensive line and has lost two of them for the season. Maurice Smith came back from injury for the LSU game, and Darius Washington has been dealing with an injury as well.

This bye-week came at a great time for some of these guys to allow their bodies time to recover and hopefully heal. FSU is down to about 8-9 guys they feel decent about sending into a game right now.

I think we see why the coaching staff was so adamant about taking so many offensive linemen in the 2022 classes, counting prep and transfers. Here’s to hoping Harris heals and returns for the Noles in 2023.
