FSU football vs. Duquesne prediction: How many points will Noles score?

I have FSU football at a one when it comes to win shares for the Duquesne game. That means I’m saying the Dukes can’t beat the Noles Saturday afternoon under any circumstances.

The offense is the unit that likely has the most to prove going into 2022. The defense proved among the upper half of college football towards the end of the 2021 season.

However, the offense should prove capable enough to slice through Duquesne. The question is how many points will they score, and there are a lot of variables that go into that. How long will the starters play? Will Duquesne turn the ball over multiple times, providing a short field?

Will special teams find a way to put points on the board? Duquesne allowed 23 points per game and 5.5 yards per play last year. However, when they played Power 5 TCU, the Horned-Frogs dropped 45 points on them. TCU ranked No. 36 offensively via FEI advanced metrics.

They averaged 6.95 yards per play in that game. The Noles ranked No. 45, which includes several games without Jordan Travis at quarterback.

The safe bet is to say FSU will score north of 45 points Saturday. The offense scored 52 points(they had one defensive score) against UMASS last season, and that was with Travis only attempting 10 passes and running the ball nine times.

Backup QB Chubba Purdy had two passing touchdowns, and other backups like Jordan Young and D.J. Williams found the end zone. I think FSU may look to show some things through the air, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Jordan Travis attempted more than 10 passes before leaving the game. If
