October 8th @ NC State

First of all, I’m not sold on NC State. They went life and death with an FSU team where half the roster had the flu, and Jordan Travis didn’t play. I know the game is at Carter-Finley Stadium, but NC State has to travel to Clemson the week before in what will be a physical game.

If they lose that game, there’s a strong likelihood FSU could catch them with the hangover effect. NC State’s defense is legit, but their offense isn’t anything special.

They are not explosive and try to beat you by 1,000 paper cuts. Much like the Louisville game last year, NC State converted way too many third downs, and FSU was 2 of 16 with McKenzie Milton at QB.

That stat was literally the difference in the game, and I expect FSU’s defense to be better. NC State likes to get rid of the ball quickly, so this is a game where the addition of Tatum Bethune could be the x-factor.

I don’t think NC State is the more talented team, but this is a game where FSU can’t afford to beat themselves. I REALLY want to pick FSU for the upset here, but it’s likely some fluke play will cost them in a place it always seems to happen.

Scoring Prediction: NC State 28, FSU 27

Projected 2022 Record: 4-2
