FSU football: 5-star WR Hykeem Williams wait officially on

FSU football is in the mix for one of the most sought-after players in the 2023 class. Five-star wide receiver Hykeem Williams is arguably the most important recruit left on FSU’s recruiting board, and he’s set a commitment date.

The news comes on the heels of Williams spending multiple days in Tallahassee at the end of July before the recruiting dead period took effect.

The FSU coaching staff has spent a lot of time developing the relationship with a caliber player many wouldn’t think FSU would have a legitimate shot for in 2023.

However, that’s not the case, and the Noles are a real contender for the Fort Lauderdale product. Williams announced a commitment date for September 23 via this Twitter account Monday night:

Williams ranks as the No. 19 player and No. 2 wide receiver nationally. He visited the Noles in March and late July and has yet to officially visit, but said in a recent interview that the Florida game was a possibility.

It will be key for the Noles to get off to a strong start to the season and show some significant offensive progress in the passing game. In case you’re wondering, September 23 is the week after the Louisville game.

I think FSU would have to be 2-1 at worst to have a legitimate shot at landing his commitment. They would need to have a strong season to hold on to that commitment too. The heaviest of heavy hitters are in this recruitment with Georgia, Texas A&M, and Alabama.

Miami will try to get in there, and Pittsburgh would be the team that less fits this group since it’s not in the southeast.

FSU does have one of his best friends from high school already on the team in freshman linebacker Omar Graham Jr. It would be a massive win for the Noles and the highest-ranked wide receiver to commit since D.J. Matthews in 2017. Can Ron Dugans silence his doubters? Let the countdown begin!
