FSU football needed some momentum on the recruiting trail after not adding a commitment since April 1st.

They have a lot of important visitors taking official visits on campus this weekend, but a guy that visited a few weeks ago was ready to make his decision.

FSU added another member to its 2023 recruiting class with JUCO defensive lineman Jaden Jones.

The 6’6″ and 240 pound defensive end announced his commitment to the Noles via his Twitter account:

Jones becomes the seventh commitment of the 2023 recruiting class, originally hailing from Montgomery, Alabama. Jones attends Hutchinson Community College in Kansas and expects to graduate in December, which would allow him to enroll in spring 2023.

He held offers from Missouri, Houston, UAB, UTSA, and FSU. I would expect Jones to play defensive end based on his measurables, and he’ll be physically ready to play as soon as he steps on campus.

He displays good athletic ability and has great length off the edge, which is a plus. However, he’s still incredibly raw and will need to get coached up by Coach Papuchis. He doesn’t have a composite ranking yet, but I think he’s worth a take, considering he can enroll in January and is physically ready.

The Noles are not in the mix for many elite defensive ends in the 2023 recruiting cycle. There’s Keldric Faulk, TJ Searcy, and Wilky Denaud.

They already have legacy blue-chip Lamont Green Jr. committed, and Jones may have supplanted Denaud, but we’ll have to see how it shakes out. FSU has a blue-chip defensive tackle committed in Keith Sampson, so their 2023 defensive haul in the trenches looks to be setting up nicely, considering the adjusted bell curve for recruiting right now.
