I wrote about the FSU football overall roster talent levels with the departure of some players coupled with new additions from the 2022 recruiting cycle.

The trade-off comparison from players lost to players gained seems to lean towards an overall increase in talent. However, some of that talent will need time to develop, especially those players in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

FSU football has spots left in its 2022 recruiting class with the departure of a few players and look to add to the 23 new players that enrolled this spring semester. We’ve expressed the positions we thought the coaching staff needed to address via the transfer portal once the season ended.

However, recruiting is fluid as players leave, others develop, and ultimately it depends upon what becomes available in the transfer portal. I thought they needed to address the quarterback, offensive line, defensive end, wide receiver, linebacker, and defensive tackle positions.

The staff added two offensive linemen, a linebacker, four wide receivers, and a defensive end. However, Fabien Lovett and Robert Cooper returning negated the need for a transfer defensive tackle.

Dennis Briggs moving from defensive tackle to defensive end meant they didn’t need as much help at defensive end, other than Jared Verse.

The development of Tate Rodemaker and AJ Duffy must have influenced the staff to believe they didn’t need a transfer QB. Since they’ve addressed a lot of the holes on the roster, let’s look at what remains.
