FSU football coaches have been working to fill their 2022 recruiting class with specific targets from the transfer portal.

Despite adding two players before the spring began, the offensive line continues to be an area the coaches targeted for overall talent and depth.

However, despite flirting with Amarius Mims, the transfer portal hasn’t produced many realistic but quality targets for the position. However, a perfect storm has been brewing over the past couple of weeks as Charlotte offensive lineman D’Mitri Emmanuel entered the transfer portal.

The Noles needed an experienced player with versatility, but someone realistic and look no further than a player FSU offensive line coach Alex Atkins used to coach.

Emmanuel chose to keep his recruitment lowkey, despite receiving offers from places like Miami and Boston College. He visited FSU football Monday and committed while looking to enroll as a graduate transfer.

Emmanuel lists 6’3″ and 306 pounds and played over 1,500 snaps and 24 career starts at UNC-Charlotte. He has the versatility to play inside at guard or at tackle. Emmanuel isn’t the big recruiting headliner like Mims, but he’s someone that can help FSU in the 2022 season.

The relationship with Atkins should help expedite becoming familiar with the FSU offense so he can contribute quickly.

We saw graduate transfer Dillan Gibbons arrive in the summer and start for the Noles in 2021, so here’s to hoping Emmanuel gets acclimated and ready to roll. One of the biggest hurdles is learning the terminology, aside from the increase in talent level he’ll face in the ACC.

FSU football has a couple of spots remaining in the 2022 recruiting class and it’ll be interesting to see if they bring in another offensive lineman. They have done a solid job of building up a unit that was patchwork at best when they arrived.

This unit could become a strength for the Noles in 2022, and that’s just what the doctor ordered for a quarterback like Jordan Travis. Welcome to Nolenation D’Mitri!
