FSU football: Is it too early to write off 2023 recruiting?
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football recruiting seems to be quiet for the most part when it comes to the 2023 cycle. The Noles only have two new 2023 commits since the New Year, with six commitments total and the No. 14 national ranking.
Social media went into somewhat of a frenzy on Mother’s Day when four-star wide receiver Tyler Williams dropped a top-10 list that didn’t include FSU.
Williams is the No. 190 player and No. 26 wide receiver nationally who received his FSU offer in November 2021.
He visited FSU in January 2022 and hasn’t been back since. It does seem like it’s weird FSU didn’t make the cut when other teams like South Florida and Syracuse are on there. However, it’s not like they’ve been recruiting him a ton, and he’s been on campus many times.
FSU already has two wide receivers committed, Darren Lawrence, who is similar to Williams in physical stature and the last guy to commit to the Noles in the class.
FSU will likely only take two more wide receivers in this class, so it’s possible there are other players they like better, especially since they offered relatively late in the process.
However, it does feel like FSU doesn’t have some of the momentum they had a couple of months ago when crystal balls were flying.
