Former FSU football blue-chip safety Jadarius Green-McKnight entered the transfer portal on April 21st and announced he found a new home at Marshall Tuesday night.

The former blue-chip safety from the 2020 recruiting class was the No. 219 player overall and No. 21 safety nationally when he signed with the Noles.

Green-McKnight originally committed to Willie Taggart and eventually signed with FSU football when Mike Norvell became the head coach in December 2019.

However, Green-McKnight didn’t enroll until the summer of 2020. Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic robbed all of the players that signed in that recruiting class of a real off-season and Green-McKnight never seemed to find his place.

Green-McKnight was a physical player, but likely was not going to make it as a safety at the Power 5 level. We can chalk it up to the pandemic hindering development, some physical limitations at the position, and the coaching staff developing players and recruiting well in the secondary.

A move to linebacker over the past year was a last attempt to make his presence felt before deciding to enter the transfer portal after spring camp concluded.

However, he makes it clear in his commitment graphic that’s his intended position at Marshall. Green-McKnight joins two more former Noles, Khalan Laborn and Bryan Robinson, both who transferred to Marshall in January.

It’s great to see Green-McKnight find a new home so quickly, with so many players entering the portal and not finding a suitable home. However, it continues a trend of the majority of Willie Taggart commitments, who have not been able to find homes at Power 5 schools once they enter the transfer portal.

Jarvis Brownlee is the only Willie Taggart commitment/signee to land at a Power 5 school after leaving FSU. Congrats to Green-McKnight, and hopefully, he balls out at his new home.
