Next Year

When I look at FSU’s roster going into the 2022 season, I can see 3-5 players with a realistic chance of getting drafted if they have a strong season.

Want to know something else? The trend of those players coming from the transfer portal continues. There might be two players that came directly to FSU from high school that has a shot of getting drafted if they have a season at FSU that they haven’t had yet.

However, we’ve seen Mike Norvell develop players from high school that was not highly recruited while he was at Memphis. We’ve seen development from players currently on the roster that we thought may have been a lost cause at one point.

Hopefully, the biggest impact of COVID has come and gone, and the players will have continous time to put in the work needed to develop in every phase of the training schedule. I talked about the impact COVID had on Adam Fuller’s defense earlier in the week, but it’s true across the board.

FSU is in a spot where they have more overall talent on its roster than when Mike Norvell took over. They have better depth at most positions and more time in the offensive and defensive schemes.

Now is when FSU must begin to put it together on the field to get better talent from the high schools to increase the number of players drafted each year instead of relying on the transfer portal.
