FSU football fans have been all over the recruitment of former five-star offensive tackle Amarius Mims.

However, he’s not the only player the coaches have been in contact with since they have had some attrition from the FSU roster.

Jarvis Brownlee, Corey Wren, Hunter Washington, and Jordan Young are recent entries into the transfer portal.  I expect a few more to enter between now and fall camp.

Aside from Mims, the coaches have been in contact with other players that could join the program.

Roussos will likely be a preferred walk-on who played receiver and was a return specialist at Columbia. The Noles also have Maryland defensive tackle Darrell Jackson on campus, who entered the transfer portal a short while ago.

Jackson was a high school teammate of FSU DT Joshua Farmer, both coached by FSU’s Corey Fuller.

Jackson would be important with the coaches knowing they will lose Robert Cooper and Fabien Lovett after the 2022 season.

He would provide experience and depth, coupled with Malcolm Ray and Jarrett Jackson, plus the young freshmen that enrolled this spring. Jackson is looking at FSU, Florida, and Miami. There are other rumors of potential targets, but I will wait  to address those when they become more than that.

FSU football seems to have a bit more juice on the recruiting trail with the excitement around the Amarius Mims recruitment. The only question will be which targets become available to pursue? If the Noles land Mims and a couple of more pieces from the transfer portal, the outlook for this program could change in a hurry.

The expectation was they should win 6-7 games in 2022, and that was before spring camp. If they get Mims, Jackson, and hit on a couple more roster needs? Things could begin to get spooky in Tallahassee! Stay tuned to Chopchat for more news and analysis, and follow us on Twitter.
