Miami is banking on getting Mims on campus first, which also happens to be when they will play their spring game at a soccer field because they don’t have their own stadium. As I’ve mentioned before, Mims didn’t consider Miami coming out of high school when they had a different coaching staff.

There are pros and cons to Miami getting Mims to visit in this environment. The pros are they will get him on campus and will have the first opportunity to make an impression over multiple days. However, how much of an impression can they make?

He won’t be the only recruit there most of that time, as I’m sure they will have other recruits in attendance for the spring game.

How much focus can they put on him in that environment? Miami fans seem to be banking on their newfound money that’s helping fund some NIL deals.

They’ve been promoting a couple of their players getting new cars, which is a depreciating asset that’s going to take money out of the player’s pocket. Head coach Mario Cristobal is an offensive line coach by trade, so they have that going for them.

However, Miami hasn’t had any real success over the last two decades under multiple coaches and just lost against FSU last season while the Noles were still working to right their ship. Is Miami banking solely on their NIL package? That seems to be the approach and we’ll see if it’s enough to influence Mims to enroll. If they don’t blow FSU and other teams away, they could be in trouble.
