FSU softball (25-1, 5-1 ACC) looks to stay hot after defeating No. 3 Alabama in a midweek showdown. The Noles host Boston College (12-9, 1-2 ACC) in ACC play.

FSU softball has rattled off six consecutive wins since their lone loss against Pittsburgh on March 6th.

The Noles have been consistent all season, with solid pitching and defense. The offense has been consistent with some timely hits and aggressiveness on the bases.

FSU is hitting .301, with 28 home runs and an on-base percentage of .405.

They have swiped 38 bases on 47 attempts and only strikeout 15.5 percent of their at-bats. FSU starting pitcher will bring a 1.80 ERA into the game with 148 strikeouts against 29 walks in 137.2 innings. Defensively, FSU has 10 errors in 26 games for a fielding percentage of .986.

Boston College is hitting .282, with 13 home runs and a .331 on-base percentage. They have swiped 20 bases on 22 attempts and only strikeout 15 percent of their at-bats. Boston College’s starting pitchers will bring a 3.51 ERA into the game with 114 strikeouts against 65 walks in 135.2 innings.

Defensively, the Eagles have 12 errors in 21 games for a fielding percentage of .979.

Keys To Victory

Boston College is a scrappy team that will put the ball in play and field it well most of the time. They lack the power and speed of FSU’s offense, and FSU’s pitching is better.

The difference will be when FSU’s offense comes to bat. Boston College pitchers will issue free passes and average at least a hit allowed per inning. They average fewer than a strikeout per inning, and have allowed eight home runs.

They likely won’t bode well for a team that will likely struggle to score runs against FSU pitching. The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday, beginning at noon before wrapping up the three-game series Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. The games will air on the ACCNX channel.
