It’s funny how the narrative surrounding Jameis Winston has changed over the past couple of years. Only one player has thrown for more yards in his first five NFL seasons, yet Winston was the butt of jokes because he led the league with 30 interceptions his final year in Tampa Bay.

He also had a terrible offensive line, no running game, nor many offensive weapons to work with. However, a change of scenery did him justice as he sat behind Drew Brees in the 2020 season before beating out Taysom Hill to win the starting job for the 2021 season.

Winston appeared in seven games and threw for 1,170 yards 14 touchdowns, and only three interceptions before suffering a season-ending leg injury. His 102.8 QB rating was the highest of his career, and the number of sacks taken was the lowest since his sophomore campaign.

His interception percentage was the lowest ever at 1.9 percent of his attempts. So maybe the problem wasn’t Jameis Winston entirely in Tampa Bay? That seems to be the narrative as Winston continues to progress in his rehab.

It’s amazing how which team selects a player can negatively alter his career. However, it looks as though the half-season in New Orleans has re-birthed the former No. 1 overall pick. It looks like Winston will be healthy enough to play in 2022, and in the right system, Winston could likely help a team more than the majority of the free-agent quarterbacks out there. Where do you think is the best spot for him?
