Player Accountability

I like to call this the Jermaine Johnson and Keir Thomas effect. However, Mike Norvell talked about the importance of the players in the program in different roles.

Player accountability is something the FSU football program has been missing for years, which began eroding later in Jimbo Fisher’s tenure and got worse under Willie Taggart.

Mike Norvell mentioned how players lead on and off the field, including helping to recruit other players to join the program. I immediately thought of Jermaine Johnson and Keir Thomas because of how they helped change the culture on the team last year.

Their ability to put the work in and have it pay off in one season set the tone for a lot of the younger players. Those players, along with Johnson and Thomas after their eligibility expired, continued to recruit others to join the FSU football program.

Players see what guys that have only been at FSU one season accomplished, which gives more reason to buy into what the coaches ask of them.
