Lawrance Toafili

Lawrance Toafili has been one of the earliest contributors from head coach Mike Norvell’s first recruiting cycle in charge of the program.

It is easy to see why this is the case with his capability to create big plays. It stems from his game-breaking speed, dead leg move, elusiveness, and versatility.
He had a very nice freshman campaign and used as a change of pace back and saw that usage increase as the season continued.

This most recent season, however, he started slowly. Opening the door for Treshaun Ward and Jashaun Corbin to completely dominate the carries and Toafili mostly became a gadget player.
At a certain point, he suffered an ankle injury, and it seemed to have held him back for at least a couple of weeks, further exasperating the divide in usage between the backfield platoon.

These limiting factors show up in the stat sheet as his total production diminished by 200 yards.
With Corbin gone, where will his 168 touches and 1,000 total yards go?

The Seminoles have transfers Trey Benson, DJ Williams, and a young variable in Corey Wren. But it is Toafili who everyone is looking toward to step forward, along with Ward.

Part of it is his freshman production and a high rating out of high school, and the other part is the fact that he is now a veteran in this team, with this being his third year.

Reports are he has added some necessary weight so he can shoulder this expanded role, but his longer frame still looks slight.

Will he have the durability to run between the tackles and move beyond the gadget role to become a feature back? He had great plays that helped the team during the 5-3 finish, but can he continue to build this spring?

He has been raved on by the coaching staff, so these are questions I expect him to answer in spring practice.
