FSU football heads into the third year of the Mike Norvell era with an 8-13 record over the first two seasons. I think it’s safe to say the 2022 season will prove pivotal for program direction.

The Noles made a two-win improvement from 2020 to 2021, but injuries and lack of depth proved costly in a few games.

The program is in a better position from a cultural standpoint, and Norvell has done a solid job of plugging in some major holes on the roster and building some depth.

The team awaits the official start of spring practice, but the ACC releasing the conference schedule will provide better insight into what’s possible for a program hungry to get back to respectability.

FSU has not done themselves any favors with tough schedules in the past few years, including tough out-of-conference games in season openers. The Noles haven’t had a winning September since 2016. However, that could change depending on when certain games fall on the schedule. Four dates for FSU football are already known:

  • Dusquesne-August 27th (H)
  • LSU-September 4th (N)
  • Louisiana-November 19th (H)
  • Florida-November 26th (H)

FSU should be favored in two of those games and have a shot at winning the other two. That makes the order of the conference games incredibly important.
