Transfer Portal

The transfer portal has already been big for the Noles in the 2022 recruiting class, and it’s where the staff will likely spend the remainder of their time completing the remaining openings.

There will be several players choosing to enter the portal between now and the end of spring practices. Luckily, FSU has already hit on most of their pressing needs, but they still need a transfer quarterback, offensive lineman, defensive lineman/edge rusher, and probably another linebacker.

The gamble is there’s no guarantee anyone at those positions will become available. The other gamble? If someone does become available, do they fit what you’re looking for, and are they attainable? I think we’ve seen the quality of transfer players FSU has signed improve overall compared to years past.

The majority of them come from Power 5 schools and have some production. However, that doesn’t always matter. Dillon Gibbons was a career backup at Notre Dame and arguably was FSU’s best offensive lineman last year and he didn’t enroll until the summer.

The transfer portal should be relatively quiet over the next couple of weeks, but I expect things to heat back up towards the end of April. That’s likely when FSU will turn up the heat to finish this recruiting class.
